The 5DMK2 has a 21mp file size for the raw format. This is a vital factor when cropping is concerned.

I have taken a photo of the harbour as below without any cropping (& full frame of course).

Here is a cropped section of the above photo (25% of it) Take note of the ship OCL at the background.

The above photo was taken just at sunset under low lighting using a 17-40mm L f4.
Setting: 6s f5 ISO100 on tripod with remote release on mirror lockup. Photo process with Photoshop CS4
